Dao opened the store in Rice Village in 2000 under the name, “Lot 8,” a reference to the eight Dao sisters in her family.

In 2006, she won “Project Runway” Season 2. The following year she premiered a 13-piece collection on QVC. Then in 2008, she created a line of travel and mobile technology accessories.

In 2021, Dao opened a second store location at M-K-T in the Heights.
