Style designer Paco Rabanne lifeless at 88

Vogue designer Paco Rabanne, renowned for his House Age steel mesh looks worn by celebs which includes Jane Fonda, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, died Friday at the age of 88 at his property in Portsall, France.

His demise was confirmed by Spanish group Puig, which owns Rabanne’s vogue and fragrance companies.

“Paco Rabanne made transgression magnetic. Who else could induce fashionable Parisian gals to clamor for dresses manufactured of plastic and metal,” claimed Jose Manuel Albesa, president of Puig’s elegance and fashion division, in a statement.

“That radical, rebellious spirit set him aside: There is only one Rabanne.”

Identified as French fashion’s “enfant awful,” Rabanne layout good started his job producing jewellery for Dior, Balenciaga and Givenchy ahead of launching his individual namesake trend household in 1966 comprised of a collection of avant-garde plastic ensembles, his debut selection was dubbed “12 Unwearable Attire in Present-day Resources.”

But Rabanne appears soon proved not just wearable, but covetable. Hepburn was a person of his early muses, sporting one particular of his metal disc attire in her 1967 motion picture “Two for the Street,” and the designer also established Fonda’s memorable metallic seems for her legendary 1968 film “Barbarella.”

Birkin was a further of the designer’s many well-known fans in an iconic portrait of the “Blow-Up” star and husband Serge Gainsbourg, each are dressed in matching metallic outfits by Rabanne.

While Rabanne retired in 1999, his label lives on the Paco Rabanne brand was relaunched in 2011 with designer Manish Arora, and Julien Dossena took the helm in 2014.

The manufacturer is nevertheless ideal regarded for its metal mesh parts influenced by Rabanne’s first layouts, with stars including Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa choosing them for pink carpets and performances alike.
